Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions I hear most about custom event backdrops and signs from Arch N Accents in Plainfield, IL. Still have a question? Email Tyler@ArchNAccents.com.

Do you rent backdrops or sell them?

I sell them. Every piece is built to order and is yours to keep. I don't offer rentals.

Where are you located, and what areas do you serve?

My shop is in Plainfield, IL 60585. I work with clients across Chicagoland, including Naperville, Joliet, Aurora, Bolingbrook, Oswego, and Romeoville.

Can I stop by the shop?

I work by appointment only, with no walk-ins. Reach out and we'll set a time.

How much does a backdrop cost?

Backdrops start at $185 for a plain 4 ft panel. My Build Your Backdrop tool shows your price instantly as you pick a shape, face, and size. Larger pieces, like 3D walls and arches, are listed in the catalog with their starting prices.

What is the smallest size you make?

The Build Your Backdrop tool prices pieces from 4 to 8 ft. For anything under 4 ft, send me a message and I'll quote it.

How far ahead should I order?

Turnaround depends on the piece and my current shop schedule, so there's no set lead time. Reach out as early as you can, especially for prom and graduation season (March through May). I'll confirm a timeline when I quote your project.

Do you deliver or ship?

All pieces are pickup only from my shop in Plainfield, IL. I don't offer delivery or shipping right now.

Will it fit in my car?

Many pieces can be built collapsible for an extra $20. The Build Your Backdrop tool checks whether your piece fits the vehicle you plan to use.

What are the pieces made of?

Most pieces are cut from birch plywood on my CNC router, and the papel picado designs are cut from MDO.

Why does the wood in your photos show knots or a wavy look?

Wood is a natural product, so no two pieces look exactly alike. Birch plywood can show knots, color changes, and grain patterns that look wavy or uneven in photos. That is only the look of the wood. Every piece is sanded fully smooth and flat, and you won't feel the knots at all. Expect your piece's grain and color to vary a little from the photos.

Are the pieces painted?

Pieces come in a raw wood finish, ready for you to paint, stain, or add vinyl. Painting isn't part of my standard work. If your project needs it, ask me and we can talk it over.

Can I use it outdoors?

My pieces are built and finished for indoor use and are not rated for outdoor conditions. Using one outside is your call. Sun, rain, and wind can warp raw wood or tip it over, so plan with that in mind.

Can you build something custom?

Yes. I welcome new ideas and can adjust most sizes to fit your space. If you have artwork, logos, or graphics, please bring them ready to cut, since I don't do graphic design.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit secures your spot, and work does not begin until it's paid. The balance is due at pickup. I accept cash, Zelle, Venmo, and CashApp. I do not accept credit or debit cards.

What if I miss my pickup time?

A missed pickup needs to be rescheduled with me directly.
